Birthdays, Bears, and Meteor Showers

The perseid meteor showers peak around this time of year… August 12th, by most reckonings, which you’ve now missed. We went out and watched it on the 11th after celebrating Brian Brakas’ (and of course Debbie Metzger’s even though she wasn’t there) birthday at Dave and Busters in Cincinnati. Caesar Creek state park near here actually had some viewing set up on their beach, but, since we didn’t look online, we ended up about a half mile away in a completely other-person-free wildlife sanctuary. Gorgeous night, and in the couple of hours we spent there we saw 18 or so great meteors between Ang and I.

Speaking of birthdays (you got the Dave and Busters’ bit in that last paragraph, right?) — Angela has some coverage of Kory’s birthday party over on her blog. I’d have more pictures up, but of course my camera died and Ang’s is a lot harder to carry around. I’ll let you know when I get around to replacing it.

Oh, right, and due to the huge number of tickets you can win playing the Monopoly game at Dave and Busters (thanks Brian and Michelle for pointing that out), we took home a HUGE white bear. Don’t tell Ang I told you, though.
