Bed-Shaped Seizmographs
So last night was bowling night, and we had quite the turn out, considering Heath is off on his honeymoon somewhere (Congrats Heath, BTW). Eric came up from Louisville to bowl in Heath’s absence and Ang stopped by to, well, drink (Pic Removed For Ang!)… all in all a late night with lots of alcohol and terrible bowling (such as Leah Bowling Backwards).
Anyway, after passing out, around 5:30 AM I woke up to the bed shaking. By “woke up” I mean I was conscious enough to realize it was happening but not enough to actually rouse any concern — I was asleep again within the minute and I didn’t think much more about it until the next morning. Turns out Eric had had the same house-shaking experience! Angela slept through it, and I haven’t heard Kory’s version yet, but it wasn’t until about 1:00 this afternoon that I talked to Li’l Bro Joe who pointed out that there was actually an earthquake this morning! Rock on. I live in San Francisco for a year and never feel one, then back in Dayton I feel one that started just over 300 miles away.
Crazy.
Also, one last word of advice: Never carry around $5000 in cash.

TeamFortress 2 and BlackJack
Not much to see here. I needed to add an update so that people would quit complaining… you know how that goes. I actually disabled the front page briefly, then people complained they couldn’t get to the pics and the Wiki. Apparently people just don’t comment on the Blog. Oh well!
If you ever needed proof that I play too many video games, you can track my progress on the latest TeamFortress2 server I’ve monopolized my time with. Jeremi’s page is up there too.
Nextly, a brief word of advice. If you go to a restaurant, and they have a list of wine specials for the evening, and you see a wine of the type you were going to get anyway, and this one has a number beside it that is, in fact, the price, which seems reasonable so you plan to order it… make sure you’ve correctly identified the price as the per BOTTLE price, instead of the per GLASS price, because confusing the two could result in A) a really good wine and B) a really painful bar tab. (the really good wine in question: 2002 BlackJack Ranch Syrah Maximus)

This is why I never get anything accomplished
This is the exact text of the e-mail I got today explaining why our servers can’t be administered today. Fortunately, I tend to work in the building next door to this, otherwise I might be concerned:
Just got off the phone with Shane, we have a real world issues with a thermal runaway emergency. (i.e. the UPS batteries in DISA are expelling poisonous gas that could cause the building to explode) We are evacuationg the entire building and as of right now the base CE organization has been called in and we have called 911.
You just can’t make stuff like this up. Anyway, ah… back to work.

Don’t Lick the kleenex and Don’t Blink
That’s my useful advice for the day. Moistening a bit of Kleenex to clean up, well, anything, makes good sense, unless your kleenex is anti-viral, because licking it tastes foul. It’s probably not bad for you, but still. Ick.
In other news, Tom didn’t win millions of dollars, so I still don’t have a Pony, but that’s probably OK because it’s been really cold out.
Also, on the good entertainment front, we had an overactive bout of screen watching last week that included seeing Juno on the big screen, and the recent Dr. Who episode “Blink” on the telly, among other things. Juno was excellent — good fun indie 16-year-old-pregnant-teen-angst film (a category unto itself) which you should really watch, especially if you’re Autumn, or someone like that. (Note to Mom and Dad: Do not watch this film).
The Dr. Who episode (“Blink”, if you missed it last paragraph), which Andrew turned us onto, is one of the best hours of Science Fiction (sorry Lu) out there these days. I’m sure there’s a .torrent out there somewhere you can find it on if you don’t get a version of the BBC, or if you’re impatient. Go find it now. NOW! And watch it. And don’t Blink.

New Year, More Games
So Angela got me a crossword generator puzzle for Christmas. In addition to Project Euler this is probably going to dominate any mental alertness I can spare in my dubious free time, not to say I already decided to play my favorite bingo games at www.barbadosbingo.com. But who knows? It could be worth my time. So far, I’ve decrypted the 10 ciphers that come with the instructions, which really wasn’t that hard, and now I’m going to fiddle with it for a month or so. It’s very cool, by the way, if you have any inclination for cool puzzles you should totally pick one up. Download the android version of the game and enjoy the exciting Fortnite Hacken, also a game that is free to play and has reborn for Android systems is Mu Origins, here you will find mu origin gift codes
On a separate game front, dear ole cousin Tom has apparently entered an $8,000 buy-in Poker Tournament that he won his way into. I gather the tournament is Poker Star’s 2008 PCA Tournament. Wish him luck; I’m sure he’ll buy me a cheap pony if he wins the million-or-so-dollar prize. (Tom: I want one that bites). At android4fun you can download all the latest games for Android devices.
In additional news, the new goal of the year is to learn some lampworking and glass blowing skills, check out the info at dagens.dk for more details. I’m sure this is the result of some strange mental affliction; it’s not like I don’t have anything to do (see paragraph 1 re: dubious free time). Still, that’s the plan, and we’ll let you know how it goes, ah, next year.
